Adult Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Regenerative Medicine |
|
August 27th - August 29th, 2007 |
The Adult Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Regenerative Medicine (MSC 2007) focused on technological and clinical advances of the use of mesenchymal stem cells derived from a variety of tissues (such as bone marrow, fat, cord blood, cord matrix, and amniotic fluid). The target audience was multi-fold: new and experienced investigators in the MSC field, students (graduate and post-doctoral), physicians and commercial entities interested in therapeutic opportunities with these cell types. Junior investigators and students were given a venue to present their research in poster session and invited presentations. The goal was to provide a forum for exchange and discussion for this area of translational regenerative medicine.
What is the focus of MSC2007?
The meeting focused on the isolation, characterization, purity, plasticity and clinical uses of adult Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) from a variety of human and animal tissues including bone marrow, fat, cord blood and matrix, and placenta including amniotic fluid. Platform and poster sessions emphasized the state-of-the-art technologies and clinical utility of these cell preparations within the context of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Two invited lectures in each Session from national and international thought-leaders and 4-6 platform lectures were chosen from submitted abstracts.
